The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception was a matter of dispute in the Middle Ages. There is widespread evidence for the celebration of the feast in Ireland in the 17th century. Pius V published the Roman breviary for the universal Church. This was confirmed in 1568, when Pope St. In 1476 Pope Nicholas IV approved the feast for Rome with its own Mass and Office. France, Spain and Germany have the same feast from around the same time. Anne's feast was celebrated at Canterbury from 1100 and there is a prayer for the feast of the Immaculate Conception in the Sarum Missal (11th century). The Greek Church has kept a feast of the Conception by St Anne of the Most Holy Theotokos on 9th December from that time. The emperor Justinian had a basilica built in Constantinople to honour St Anne it was dedicated in 550. Both have their joint feast on 26th July. The tradition is that Anne was the youngest daughter of a priest Nathan from Bethlehem, descended from the tribe of Levi. James and the apocryphal gospel of the Nativity of Mary (2nd century). The names and tradition about Mary's parents, Anne and Joachim, come from the apocryphal gospel of St. The date of the solemnity is co-ordinated with that of Mary's Nativity on 8th September (nine months later). The Church assumes Mary herself was conceived in the normal way through loving intercourse of her father Joachim with her mother Anne.

What the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception means is that from the first moment of her conception, God, foreseeing and anticipating the merits of Jesus's passion and death, and knowing Mary would say "yes" to becoming the Mother of the Saviour, filled her with grace, and preserved her free from all stain of original sin. I no longer use special characters.Summary : This feast had its origin in the East as the "Conception of Mary by Saint Anne." It spread through the West during the Middle Ages as the "Immaculate Conception" and was extended to the entire Western Church in the eighteenth century. I finally was able to track down a phone number to call and spoke to a very kind IT specialist who reset my account and I am back up and running! I am not going to risk locking my account again just to validate my special character suspicion. I am a clerk and I am also very much addicted to my Gospel Library app for daily study. The email form said something about 3-5 business days. Email assistance on my account went unanswered for more than a week.

Password reset procedures do not unlock your account. However, in the process of narrowing this down, before I could verify my suspicion, my lds.org account was locked - I suspect due to too many failed login attempts. Since Gospel LIbrary seems to be heavily based on an HTML rendering framework, I suspected that my use of a special character '&' in my password was the culprit - '&', like '<' and other characters are special in HTML. I discovered that my login was failing on Gospel Library on both devices. I had no issues until a week later when I discovered that my Gospel Library app on my phone and pad were no longer syncing. I even turned on two-factor authentication. My situation is likely unrelated to the previous posts but it was an issue for me.Ī few weeks ago, I decided to change my lds.org account password to something stronger.
